Benefits
⦁ Retrofit seamlessly with installed PV inverters
⦁ Complete reliability with industry leading solution
⦁ Seamless switchover to keep your power on during outage
Solutions
Traditional grid-tied solar systems only operate when utility power is available. Without energy storage, a grid-tied PV solar system shuts down during a power outage.
However for homes that have a PV Inverter system installed and are already selling power to the grid, it is still possible to retrofit backup power using an inverter chargers., no change to PV inverter. However backup power is limited to the capacity of the battery bank and the solar system cannot be used to charge the batteries while the grid is down.
In a NET metered program the inverter charger is added in front of PV inverter to provide backup power. The PV inverter is rewired from the grid connection to critical load subpanel and AC Couple is on AC Output port.
Advantages of Grid-tie solar power systems with battery backup
Hybrid solar systems are less expensive than off-grid solar systems. You don`t really need a backup generator, and the capacity of your battery bank can be downsized. Off-peak electricity from the utility company is cheaper than diesel.
Consequently, you can temporarily store whatever excess electricity your solar panels in batteries, and put it on the utility grid when you are paid the most for every kWh.
Smart solar holds a lot of promise. The concept will become increasingly important as we transition towards the smart grid in the coming years.
